India - Srinagar to Leh

This was a shot taken somewhere nearing Leh. I think we were just around 3 hours from Leh. The typical kind of terrain you'd see around Leh...rocky desert. Apparently there are a couple of this sort of rivers originating from the Himalayas flowing through the desert into the Indus and Ganges Valleys and finally into the Indian Ocean...Amazing !!

Here's a typical desert mountain. It's actually made up of little loose rocks. Looks like it was due to some massive erosion from some other bigger formation some 1000 zillion years ago...as what the Geologists would put it. It's truly unique. Haven't seen these sort of things in Europe or Malaysia.

After like 2 days travelling on hot dry and dusty desert roads ..not to mention bumpy (we were going on average speed of 35km/h for 8 hrs per day)...we finally arrive at this area nearer to Srinagar where green terrain and snow capped mountains greet you. It's a true feeling of relieve. The desert area although a unique scenery somehow creates some sort of tension in the mind and soul. Here's green to soothe the built up tension. Had a short rest stop and I took a walk up to the mountains supposedly to the glacier....due to lack to time I didn't manage to reach the glacier. :(
